বাংলাদেশ বিনিয়োগ উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষ -বিডা ও বাংলাদেশ অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল কর্তৃপক্ষ—বেজা এর নির্বাহী চেয়ারম্যান আশিক চৌধুরী বলেছেন, অর্থনৈতিক উন্নতির জন্য চট্টগ্রাম একটি অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কেন্দ্র। বৃহস্পতিবার বিকেলে চট্টগ্রাম সার্কিট হাউস মিলনায়তনে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের জবাবে তিনি এই কথা বলেন। এসময় প্রধান উপদেষ্টার প্রেস সচিব শফিকুল আলম উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের জবাবে বিডা চেয়ারম্যান বলেন, বাজেট সাপোর্টের ক্ষেত্রে যতটুকু সম্ভব বৈদেশিক সাহায্য কমিয়ে আনা যায় তা নিয়ে কাজ করছে সরকার। তিনি বলেন, ঢাকা রাজনৈতিক রাজধানী আর চট্টগ্রাম হবে আমাদের বাণিজ্যিক রাজধানী।বাংলাদেশের যে সম্পূর্ণ উন্নয়ন লক্ষ্যের দিকে সরকার এগোচ্ছে, তার মূল অংশ চট্টগ্রাম।
আশিক চৌধুরী বলেন, সরকারের লক্ষ্য হচ্ছে দেশের মানুষের জন্য, বিশেষ করে চট্টগ্রামের জন্য কর্মসংস্থান তৈরি করা। অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন সব সরকারের প্রথম এজেন্ডা দেওয়া উচিত আর অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নের জন্য বে টার্মিনালকে আমরা যত বেশি বিশ্বমানের করতে পারব, তত বেশি ব্যবসার জন্য কন্ট্রিবিউশন করা যাবে।
সংবাদ সম্মেলনে ডেপুটি প্রেস সচিব আবুল কালাম আজাদ মজুমদার, বন্দর কতৃপক্ষের চেয়ারম্যান রিয়ার এডমিরাল এস এম মনিরুজ্জামান, জেলা প্রশাসক ফরিদা খানম, সরকারি কর্মকর্তা এবং উদ্যোক্তা ও ব্যাবসায়ী প্রতিনিধি ও সুশীল সমাজের প্রতিনিধি এবং সাংবাদিকবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

এর আগে হোটেল রেডিসন ব্লুতে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর কতৃপক্ষ কর্তৃক আয়োজিত চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর বিষয়ক মতবিনিময় সভায় প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে বিডা চেয়ারম্যান চৌধুরী আশিক মাহমুদ বিন হারুন বলেন, চট্টগ্রাম বে টার্মিনালে ২৫ হাজার মানুষের কর্মসংস্থান হবে। এসময় তিনি চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের সক্ষমতা বাড়ানোর উপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। তিনি বলেন, বাংলাদেশকে একটি উৎপাদন কেন্দ্র হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে হলে বন্দরসমূহের উন্নয়ন জরুরি। এজন্য বিশ্বসেরা বন্দর পরিচালনাকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর সঙ্গে আমাদের কাজ করতে হবে।
চেয়ারম্যান আরো বলেন, সমৃদ্ধির স্বর্ণদ্বার চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরকে ২০২৪ সালে লালদিয়া টার্মিনালে কার্যক্রম শুরু করে এপিএম টার্মিনালস। শুরুতে ৩০০ থেকে ৪০০ মিলিয়ন ডলার বিনিয়োগের কথা থাকলেও আজ বেজা চেয়ারম্যান জানিয়েছেন, বিনিয়োগের পরিমাণ বাড়িয়ে ৮০০ মিলিয়ন ডলার করা হয়েছে। আশা করছি এ টার্মিনাল আরো বেশি যুগোপযোগী করে গড়ে তোলা সম্ভব হবে।এতে বিপুল কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ তৈরি হবে।
বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্যে প্রধান উপদেষ্টার প্রেস সচিব মোঃ শফিকুল ইসলাম বলেন,অর্থনৈতিক অগ্রযাত্রা অব্যাহত রাখতে ও ভবিষ্যতের চাহিদার কথা মাথায় রেখে, বাংলাদেশকে গ্লোবাল ফ্যাক্টরি বানাতে হবে যাতে বিদেশিরা বাংলাদেশে বিনিয়োগ করতে পারে। এছাড়াও চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের পণ্য সরবরাহ আরো দ্রুত সময়ে দিতে হবে যাতে বিদেশি বিনিয়োগ কারীদের আগ্রহ বাড়ে। চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরেকে পর্যাপ্ত আধুনিক যন্ত্রপাতি সংযোজন ও সম্পূর্ণ অটোমেশনের আওতায় আনতে হবে।
