ঐতিহ্যবাহী জব্বারের বলীখেলা ২৫ এপ্রিল

চট্টগ্রামের ঐতিহ্যবাহী আবদুল জব্বারের বলীখেলার ১১৬তম আসর বসবে আগামী ২৫ এপ্রিল বিকেল চারটায়। এ উপলক্ষ্যে লালদীঘির আশেপাশের বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকাজুড়ে বসবে তিন দিনের (২৪, ২৫ ও ২৬ এপ্রিল) বৈশাখী মেলা। বলীখেলা ও বৈশাখী মেলা কমিটির সঙ্গে বুধবার অনুষ্ঠিত পুলিশ প্রশাসনের বৈঠকে এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে।
সভায় জানানো হয়, আবদুল জব্বারের বলীখেলা চট্টগ্রামের ইতিহাস, ঐতিহ্য এবং সংস্কৃতির সাথে ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িত। এ বলীখেলা এখন পুরো চট্টগ্রামবাসীরই একটি বিনোদনের অংশ। তাই চট্টগ্রামের সর্বস্তরের মানুষ আন্তরিকভাবে সহায়তা করবেন বলে আশা করেন মরহুম আবদুল জব্বার সওদাগরের পরিবারের সদস্যরা।
সভায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন চট্টগ্রাম মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশের ডিসি দক্ষিণ মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর হোসেন, এডিসি মোহাম্মদ মাহমুদুল হাসান মামুন, এসি কোতোয়ালী মোহাম্মদ মাহফুজুর রহমান, কোতোয়ালী থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা মোহাম্মদ আব্দুল করিম, পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির ইনচার্জ মনিরুল আলম খোরশেদ, মিজানুর রহমান চৌধুরী, রবিউল আলম, মেলা কমিটির সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও মরহুম আবদুল জব্বার সওদাগরের নাতি শওকত আনোয়ার বাদল, বলীখেলার প্রধান রেফারি ও জেলা ক্রীড়া সংস্থার সাবেক সাধারণ সম্পাদক হাফিজুর রহমান, সাবেক কাউন্সিলর ইসমাইল হোসেন বালি প্রমুখ।
ব্রিটিশবিরোধী আন্দোলনে এ অঞ্চলের যুবকদের শারীরিকভাবে প্রস্তুত করতে ১৯০৯ সালের ১২ বৈশাখ চট্টগ্রাম শহরের বদরপাতির বিশিষ্ট ব্যবসায়ী মরহুম আবদুল জব্বার সওদাগর চট্টগ্রামের লালদীঘি ময়দানে এই বলী খেলা শুরু করেন। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় প্রতিবছর ১২ বৈশাখ লালদীঘি মঠে এ বলী খেলা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে থাকে।
