ভুয়া কোম্পানির নামে ২০ কোটি টাকা ঋণ নেওয়ার অভিযোগে সাবেক ভূমিমন্ত্রী সাইফুজ্জামান চৌধুরী জাবেদ, তাঁর স্ত্রী রুকমিলা জামানসহ ২৩ জনের বিরুদ্ধে মামলা করেছে দুর্নীতি দমন কমিশন (দুদক)। বৃহস্পতিবার তাদের বিরুদ্ধে এ মামলা করা হয়। দুদক মহাপরিচালক আক্তার হোসেন এ তথ্য জানিয়েছেন।
মামলার এজাহারে বলা হয়, সাবেক ভূমিমন্ত্রী সাইফুজ্জামান চৌধুরী জাভেদ ক্ষমতার অপব্যবহার করে অস্তিত্বহীন ইম্পেরিয়াল ট্রেডিং, ক্লাসিক ট্রেডিং ও মডেল ট্রেডিংয়ের নামে ২০ কোটি টাকার ঋণ নেন। পরে আসামিরা পরস্পর যোগসাজশে ঋণের টাকা আত্মসাৎ করেন। ঋণের ওই টাকা ইন্টারন্যাশনাল লিজিং অ্যান্ড ফাইন্যান্সিয়াল সার্ভিসেস লিমিটেডের কাছ থেকে আরামিট সিমেন্ট লিমিটেডের নামে নেওয়া ঋণ পরিশোধে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে বলে জানা গেছে। এর আগে দুদকের আবেদনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে সাইফুজ্জামানের ১০২ কোটি টাকার শেয়ার ও ৯৫৭ বিঘা জমি জব্দ এবং ৩৯টি ব্যাংক অ্যাকাউন্ট অবরুদ্ধের আদেশ দেন আদালত।
